2K announced that for the first time, players can start their NBA 2K17 MyCAREER Mode prior to launch with The Prelude. This introductory DLC to the critically acclaimed NBA simulator will allow players to try out the new game as well as begin their basketball careers by creating a player that will carry over to the full game at launch. Greg Thomas, President of Visual Concepts, says this about The Prelude‘s accessibility.

The Prelude was designed specifically to introduce new fans to our franchise, and give them an introduction to our legendary MyCAREER mode that puts the user at the center of an epic basketball story. Veterans of NBA 2K will also love getting a head start on their MyCAREER, so when the game launches they can be ready to jump in and compete.”

In The Prelude, players will pick a Divison I collegiate program to join. As the cinematic tale unravels, watch as your custom character’s draft stock increases or decreases as you partake in multiple “authentic” college game experiences. Your performance in these games will affect your draft experience as you begin NBA 2K17.

The Prelude will feature a new level of player customization with the brand new companion app for iOS and Android devices. The app will have an enhanced face scanner that gives players the ability to scan their face and apply it to the game in a short period of time. Additionally, a tutorial featuring 2016 USA Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski (a.k.a. Coach K) will teach new players the basics of NBA 2K17.

NBA 2K17 Presents: The Prelude will be available to download for free on PS4 and Xbox One on September 9th. A week later, NBA 2K17 will launch on October 16 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Video games are pretty cool. My favorite game of all time is Galaga. Other hobbies include comic books, watching fake wrestling, hitting drums and breathing.
