It’s been a while since indie games first started calling the Wii U their home. With the success of many indie titles like Shovel Knight and SteamWorld Dig, more and more developers are making their own Kickstarter campaigns in order to bring their creativity to life.
One of those developers is Still Games Studio. Still Games was started by Kara Myron (Lead Programmer) and Peter Harmon (Game Designer) in 2013 and is based out of Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Their aim is to create experiences that are largely focused on gameplay. That being said, their first project comes in the form of a 2D action-adventure game called Animal Gods. In this game, you will play as Thistle, a warrior with the sole purpose of eliminating the curse that is plaguing the Animal Gods and causing them to roam the lands as haunted beasts.
Animal Gods takes direct inspiration from games like The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy. The game will feature a lot of interesting gameplay elements such as open-world exploration, reflex-based combat, and weapon/ability upgrades. Still Games aims to “bring the charm, grandeur and engaging gameplay of the greatest 90’s classics into the 21st century with full-HD, dynamic lighting, Hi-res textures, and a brilliant story.”
Animal Gods is looking to be one of the best indie games on the Wii U. If you want to support their project, feel free to donate to the Animal Gods Kickstarter. Their campaign will officially end on November 8th, 2014 at 4:01 P.M. EST.
